Matthew Sage, recording as M. Sage, is a musician, intermedia artist, recording engineer, and founder of the influential cassette label Patient Sounds. Raised in Colorado and later trained in writing and intermedia arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he builds immersive soundscapes blending field recordings, synthesis, minimalist chamber music, and electro-acoustic sound design. His RVNG Intl. debut, Paradise Crick (2023), was developed over five years; he followed it with Tender / Wading (2025) and continues collaborative work with the improvisatory ambient-jazz quartet Fuubutsushi.
