The Season of Open Doors
with Deneene
There is a particular quality to July light — it arrives early, lingers late, and fills the shop with a warmth that softens everything it touches.
Summer has always felt to me like the season of opening — the Earth tilts fully toward the sun, and the days turn generous in a way that invites us outward.
We feel that pull here too. The door props open, sessions spill into the air, and the minerals answer the light in their own way — sunstone shimmers, citrine warms, a quartz point throws a small spectrum on the wall. That is the spirit of this issue: to stay open, to the science and the wonder both. The door, here, is always open.

Welcome to the Sacred Ground Observatory
What if every morning offered a small doorway into wonder?
Over the past year we’ve quietly built something new — a living online space that changes each day, inviting you to begin your mornings with reflection, curiosity, science, and a little mystery. It’s designed to feel less like a website and more like a place you visit.
Each day brings a fresh arrangement of experiences:
Deneene’s reflections and observations.
Seasonal insights and the rhythms of nature.
A crystal or stone and what it has to teach us.
Moon phases, solstices, and notable skies.
Small practices to carry into your day.
But it isn’t only to read — it’s meant to be explored. Visit Follow Your Curiosity and choose the question that speaks to you:
What is the sky asking of you today?
Which card is waiting for you?
What number is shaping your day?
Which stone keeps appearing for a reason?
One click opens tools for astrology, tarot, numerology, and crystals. When you’re done, the Observatory Logbook is a quiet place to leave yourself a note, and Help Shape Tomorrow is where you tell us what to add next. It’s still growing — shaped in part by the people who visit.
The doors are open. Come wander for a few minutes. Follow your curiosity. Leave a mark on the morning.
And come back tomorrow — because tomorrow’s Observatory will never be exactly the same.
Readings Under an Open Sky
When the weather agrees — and in July it often does — some of what usually happens inside moves out into the open air. A reading or a quiet session feels different outdoors: the light unfiltered, the air moving, the hum of the world part of the experience rather than something to shut out.
So on warm afternoons you may find a tarot reading just outside the door, or a moment of stillness where the breeze can reach it. It’s weather-permitting and seasonal — a small summer ritual. If you’re stopping by and the day is fine, ask whether your session can be held al fresco.
Some practices ask us to be still; others teach us to find stillness while moving. Tai Chi and Qi Gong are the second kind — slow, deliberate forms refined over centuries to cultivate balance, breath, and the circulation of energy the Chinese tradition calls qi.
Sherry Gurley brings this to Sacred Ground with a calm, grounded presence. Her sessions move at the pace of breath — unhurried and welcoming to every level, with no athleticism or prior practice required. People often leave looser in the body and quieter in the mind. For some it’s gentle exercise and balance work; for others, moving meditation. Both are welcome, and both are true.

The Body Has a Frequency
with Eve
We are, at the most fundamental level, electrical beings — every heartbeat and nerve signal a small electrical event. So it’s less surprising than it sounds that gentle, applied frequencies can influence how the body feels.
This summer, Eve offers sessions on the OlyLife THz Tera-P90+, which pairs two technologies — Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) and Terahertz frequency. PEMF carries a real scientific lineage: NASA studied it to help protect astronauts from muscle and bone loss, building on field stimulation the FDA cleared for bone healing in 1979. A session is simple and restful — you settle in and let the device work, often starting at the feet. It’s designed to support circulation, ease tension, and encourage deep relaxation, and includes three tools: the Main Device, the Frost Age Beauty Device, and the Revitaluxe Massager. Most people describe it as calming and grounding. It’s non-invasive and drug-free.
Eve also leads the Quantum Alignment Series, an ongoing set of evening classes (see July Highlights below).
As with everything here, this is an experience to explore — not a medical treatment or a cure. If you’re managing a health condition, speak with your physician first.

The Earth Has a Pulse
“The planet hums at a frequency older than life itself — and we evolved inside that hum.”
If the last few weeks have felt strangely charged — restless sleep, a low hum of unease, headaches, even a faint ringing in the ears — you’re not imagining it, and you’re not alone. All season, people have walked in describing the same sense: that the air itself is carrying more current than usual.
There may be something to it. We’re near the peak of the sun’s eleven-year cycle, and this summer has been loud — solar flares and a strong geomagnetic storm swept past Earth in early June alone. Each flare charges the ionosphere, the ceiling of the cavity where the Earth’s own pulse rings. That pulse has a name: in 1952 Winfried Schumann showed that the space between the ground and the ionosphere rings like a chamber, kept humming by lightning at about 7.83 cycles per second — the Earth’s electromagnetic heartbeat. Disturb the ceiling and you disturb the heartbeat. That part is settled science; the research on how it touches the body — heart-rate variability, sleep, migraines — is younger, but real.
“I’m in Naperville, so Sacred Ground is about a thirty-minute drive for me — and it is absolutely worth it. There is nothing like it any closer to home. I always leave glad I made the trip, and I make it often.”
— Jennifer R. · Naperville, ILMade by Hand, Made with Care
with Karen
Some of the most loved things at Sacred Ground aren’t mined or imported — they’re made by hand, in small batches, by someone you can meet. Karen, one of our practitioners, is also a quiet maker: small-batch bath salts (a new blend each month), chakra mists, sage sprays, and soothing creams and roll-ons for tired muscles and joints.
What makes them special is partly what’s in them and partly who makes them — Karen develops each formula alongside her grandchildren, turning the kitchen into a small, multigenerational workshop.
Whether you want this month’s bath salt blend, a mist to reset a space, or something gentle for sore muscles, ask for them at the shop — and ask which blend is featured this month.
