American harpist Georgia Kelly (b. 1941) helped define both the New Age genre and its independent recording industry in the late 1970s through her own Heru Records label. Her 1978 album Seapeace sold over 250,000 copies, and her collaboration with Steven Halpern that same year, Ancient Echoes, evoked the sound of ancient Greece, Egypt, and China through harp, electric piano, flute, and voice.
