Born in Milan in 1982 and now based in Berlin, Federico Albanese began piano lessons at six, later co-founding the avant-garde duo La Blanche Alchimie with Jessica Einaudi in 2007. Influenced by Brian Eno and William Basinski, his airy, cinematic piano soundscapes incorporate guitar, bass, violin, and electronica. His acclaimed debut, The Houseboat and the Moon (2014), was followed by The Blue Hour on Berlin Classics Neue Meister series. He scored the 2019 documentary The Twelve, using instruments native to each of its twelve featured spiritual elders.
