English sarod player and composer Chinmaya Dunster (1954-2025) spent thirteen years studying the sarod in London and India, becoming a disciple of Ustad Gurdev Singh in 1983. His more than twenty albums, including the Celtic Ragas series, Meditation Ragas, and Yoga Lounge, blend Hindustani classical technique with Celtic melody. He performed for Paul McCartney’s wedding in Ireland in 2002 and was an active environmentalist throughout his life. He died in March 2025.
