Canadian devotional kirtan artist Brenda McMorrow came from a varied musical background spanning folk, jazz, and bluegrass, including work with the 1990s London band Julia Propeller. A 2004 yoga workshop introduced her to Sanskrit chant, redirecting her career toward devotional music blending Sanskrit mantra and kirtan with Latin American medicine songs and her own English lyrics.
