Greek-American composer Iasos (Joseph Bernardot, 1947-2024) began hearing what he called paradise music in 1967 and released Inter-Dimensional Music in 1975, alongside Steven Halperns Spectrum Suite the same year, one of the two albums generally credited with founding New Age music as a genre. His 1978 track The Angels of Comfort, from the album Angelic Music, was later identified by a 1989 near-death-experience study at Plymouth State University as the recording survivors most often compared to the music they recalled hearing during their experiences. Iasos died of cardiovascular disease on January 6, 2024, at age 76.
