Jean-Philippe Rio-Py, known as RIOPY, is a French-British pianist born in 1983 who spent his early years within a cult, teaching himself piano on an abandoned instrument as a means of enduring a controlling environment. He escaped at eighteen and eventually settled in England, where Coldplays Chris Martin recognized his talent and gifted him a piano – a turning point in his career. Signing with Warner Classics in 2017, his breakthrough album, Tree of Light (2019), reached number one on the US Billboard Classical Album chart. Later releases include Bliss (2021) and THRIVE (2023).
