Luke Howard is an Australian composer and pianist raised in Melbourne, classically trained before graduating in jazz performance at the Victorian College of the Arts. A two-time finalist at the Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition, he debuted as a bandleader in 2010 with The Luke Howard Trio before establishing his solo reputation with Sun, Cloud (2013). His 2019 film score The Sand That Ate the Sea won an APRA/AGSC award and earned an ARIA nomination. He has extensively scored dance works for companies including the Atlanta Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet.
