Peia Luzzi is a song collector, teacher, and multi-instrumentalist based in Appalachia, originally trained in opera at the New England Conservatory in Boston. A vocal injury redirected her toward vocal pedagogy and the therapeutic practice of Indian raga. Her work draws on her Celtic and Old World European ancestry, moving between Child Ballads, Gaelic laments, Scottish waulking songs, and Bulgarian mountain wails. Her albums include The Dance of Devotion (2012) and Four Great Winds (2013, picked up by Sounds True for global release in 2015). She has collaborated with Rising Appalachia, Estas Tonne, and Grammy winner Peter Kater.
