A Beginner’s Guide to Working with Crystals

Crystal healing is a form of alternative medicine that uses crystals to help you find balance and peace. You may have heard about crystal healing, but do you know how to use them? If not, this beginner’s guide will walk you through the basics of working with crystals so that they can help support your health and well-being.

What are crystals anyway?!

As you may have guessed, crystals are natural, inorganic solids that can be found in the earth. They’re not made by man or machine—they were formed before humans were even around! The most common types of crystals include quartz, amethyst, rose quartz and citrine.

The following description will help you understand how these rocks function:

•Crystals have a specific atomic structure with repeating patterns of atoms arranged in three-dimensional space. Each individual crystal has its own unique atomic structure because all the atoms within it are arranged differently from each other (hence why they’re called “crystals”).

•If we break down a given piece of quartz into its constituent elements (oxygen and silicon), we find that there’s one special element called silicon dioxide—a compound made up of oxygen atoms bound together with hydrogen bonds between them instead of being attached directly to another atom like normal molecules do when they make up larger substances like water or air molecules do when they’re parted off from their parent liquid/gas source forms inside clouds at high altitudes over land masses on Earth’s surface below us here below ground level where we live today!”

•Clear quartz. Representing the power of clarity and love, clear quartz is the most popular crystal for beginners. It’s also a great stone for chakra balancing and energy work.

•Rose quartz. This beautiful energy amplifier works well with all types of healing work—from self-love to calming anxiety attacks—and it’s great for internal cleansing as well as external applications like massage therapy or even just being held in your hands during meditation!

•Amethyst (or purple). The calming properties of this stone make it one that can be used anytime you need an extra boost when working on yourself or others around you; it also helps to clear negative thoughts from your mind so that you can focus more clearly on what matters most at any given moment

You may know that crystals can absorb negative energy and bring it to you, but did you know that they also have the ability to absorb positive energy? In other words, your crystal might be emitting a good vibe right now but if it’s been sitting on your work table for a while without being cleansed, then there could be some negativity lingering.

To cleanse your crystals:

•Smudge them with sage or incense (or both!) as often as possible—this will help restore their natural vibrational frequency. If you don’t have any oils available for smudging purposes, try using sandalwood oil instead!

•Water cleansing is another way of restoring balance in our lives by removing any residue from working with crystals. Simply fill up a bowl with lukewarm water and place your crystal inside until all traces of old energies are gone—you can then use this water for meditation purposes later on down the road when needed again.

You can use crystals for many things, but remember that each crystal has its own energy and purpose. It’s important to find the right one for you!

To begin your search, consider what kind of energy you want from a crystal. Some examples include:

•Balancing – A good stone for balancing male/female energies or making sure both halves of your personality are represented in any relationship.

•Guidance – A helpful stone if you feel stuck on something or need help with decision-making processes. It may also be used as an amulet in order to aid decision making and increase clarity during times when it seems like there’s too much noise around us all the time (like today).

You can program your crystal by placing it in the sun for a few hours. The sun is considered to be a powerful energy source and will help you to establish a connection with your crystal. You can also use this method to charge other crystals, such as quartz or opal, which are easy to find on Etsy. To do so:

•Hold the charging stone in your hand and focus on it while saying “I am ready.” This helps bring energy into the stone so that it can be charged by sunlight or indoor lighting (or any other source of natural light).

•Place the crystal somewhere where there is plenty of sunlight; this may mean outside if you live in an area where there isn’t much natural light during summer months! Once placed out there, hang around for at least 2 hours per day until evening (or longer if possible). You don’t want the process over too quickly – after all we’re talking about something pretty important here!

•Use the crystal to set a strong intention.

•Crystals can help you with manifestation, healing and meditation.

Crystals can be used in a variety of ways. They can be used as jewelry, as an alter (sometimes called a mandala), and for meditation. You may also use them to set an intention or make a wish upon one that you have purchased.

Crystals can also be used to cleanse the mind, body and spirit. By using crystals with this intent you will be able to clear out negative thoughts so that they don’t affect your life negatively anymore!
